Quito, Ecuador 23rd-24th June

Arrived in Quito Saturday evening and Alicia (Eunice's sister) kindly picked us up from airport and we stayed at hers for 2 nights.
Saturday evening we went into the old town, lots of churches and cathedrals all lit up - would make good photos but camera not sophisticated enough.
Have eaten several local delicacies but am rubbish at remembering names... but the corn cake wrapped in corn leaves is yummy!

Mitad del Mundo- Sunday we went to the Equator and jumped between northern and southern hemispheres. Really good museum in the tower which went into great detail about all the different cultures in Ecuador.

There was also a mini-festival and we sat in the square in the lovely sunshine and watched dancing... and Ben was picked out twice to join in the fun...photos on Flickr!

Big thank you to Alicia and Enrique for entertaining us this weekend. Had a great time and will be back! Still have to check out the town by daylight. We're off to mountains today (Monday 25th) so Ben can climb a volcano whilst he is still aclimatised to altitude.
